Dreams give our souls wings – expectations are the stones that weigh them down….

A friend bobbed me a message this morning so we could catch-up on each other’s news and he signed off by asking if I had my chickens yet….

We all have dreams, dreams are good; it is the expectations we have that can kill them before they’ve drawn their first breath.

If your dream is to write a novel, then write it. If it doesn’t get published to critical acclaim does it matter? No, you have written your novel and followed your dream.

So go follow your passions and interests; write your stories, paint your pictures, create and play your music, decorate your home, build your garden, create your handicrafts, whatever speaks to you. Give yourself permission to follow your dreams in whatever form they may take. Try not to measure them by someone else’s benchmark or weigh them down with expectations that you haven’t realised them unless a certain set of circumstances happen.

I will have chickens one day, just not here (that will make my landlord smile!!). I hold the thought that I will have chickens pottering about outside one day and it will happen. I also have a love of ducks, goats, pigs and horses but that’s another dream.
