I’m back on back packs….the old memories that are helpful and the ones we should ditch…..

Your own shine x

When faced with a situation that feels identical to something that happened in the past we react without thinking. It is perfectly understandable that we expect the same outcome again, especially if we were hurt, and we go into ‘self protection’ mode. A natural tendancy as we operate from within our own frame of reference and as this situation is happening to us, or around us, we take it personally. It is not surprising then that the same outcome happens, sometimes over and over again. If all the people involved are acting from within their own frame of reference then the outcome will be the same for each one involved.

Learning from experience and stepping back from situations or people that dull our shine is one thing, but what happens when you take old memories and they have power in the same scenario but with new situations and people. If you react as you did before then the past is dictating the future.

It takes courage to pause for a second or two and ask yourself why should things be the same? If you expect a certain outcome then experience has taught me that is exactly what you will get.

Try to see things playing out in a different way; expect this new outcome, imagine how that would feel and then trust that it will be so and see what happens.

Hold onto your old loving memories and ditch the ones that dull your shine.
