Take the time to care for yourself…if we don’t care for ourselves then how can we care for others?

Spring is here as the ducks are back in my garden x

I know you’re probably thinking that ducks have got nothing to do with taking care of ourselves, but they have for me.

I have lost count of the friends who have said that I will never leave my current home; it’s not true. I can settle happily anywhere and make the best of it and some of my long term friends will recall some of the places where I have landed that will bear testimony to this. It’s about being happy no matter where you are and finding time, even a small bit, to do the things that make you smile.

I could rattle on here about the things that make me happy but that’s not relevant to anyone else as we are all different. You know yourself better than anyone; it’s not about waiting till you have the right set of circumstances, or you do this or do that, or have this or have that, or sort this or sort that……absolutely none of that is as important as you think it is. It is about taking a few minutes to do what makes you smile (regardless of what is going on) and in doing so you are taking care of yourself.

Stopping for five minutes to watch the ducks in my garden this morning put a smile on my face. I watched them pottering about re-staking their claim and then I glanced down at the two furry bundles slumbering at my feet and it occured to me that the next few days are going to be interesting. Things have changed here as my feathered friends will soon find out!
