Ponderings on communication and the things we do in it’s name….

It was the ‘Like’ button on Facebook that made me think…what does it mean? Can we build and maintain friendships with the ‘Like’ button, I don’t think so. It’s a bit like trying to build a new relationship by text….it’s not based in reality. You can even run into trouble on the telephone because the body language is missing, so how we can expect to be understood by hitting a button?

My Inbox was stuffed with emails that needed replies yesterday and I stepped back a bit and thought about all the communication that goes on and pondered on how long it is since I had actually seen some of the friends and family that have got buried in email correspondance.

Nothing beats face to face; that hug, loving look, smile, shared joke, hand hold and simple face to face contact.
