Pause to acknowledge moments for they are the golden sparks that light up your heart…

When good news breaks, changes happen, a happy event occurs or a golden moment settles on you, pause. Pause for as long as you need (or realistically can) and acknowledge it. Savour the time.

I have just watched my daughter’s face light up as she spotted our new hens in the garden. Daisy and Blossom were collected last night as Em and her boyfriend were out celebrating their ‘A’ level results with much relief and happiness as they start this new chapter of their lives.

I watched my boyfriend last night as we stood in the rain talking ‘chicken’ with Em, our new found friend on all things ‘chook’, and I realised what the saying ‘the best is yet to come’ actually means. Your heart takes pictures of moments like these.

A message from the little one’s Dad assured me that the girls were ‘cooing’ over the picture I had sent of the hens this morning and had immediately forgiven me for re-naming one as Daisy as I felt that ‘Mango’ just didn’t fit somehow!

I paused today as I stood in the sunshine and watched two happy hens and two tentative hounds potter about in the garden. Said hounds are now curled up around my feet and looking up at me as if to say ‘And what were you thinking???’.

Ben made me promise that I would just drift today as so much has happened lately and changes are abounding as a result.

So right now I stop and just be.
