Dreams, spiritual journeys and humour, lashings of humour……

Stephen Ryan – Flatcap Illustration – http://www.flatcap.biz

I am a believer in the right people and events happening when you are ready to move forward on a dream and a long held dream of mine to write a book has come on in leaps and bounds in the last few weeks. Stephen Ryan, a humourous and truly talented man, is going to illustrate the book for me and we have been getting to know each other and find ‘our’ way of working together. The sharp banter and humour flying between us masks the fact that real progress is being made and amidst all this we have been sharing our individual spiritual journeys thus far. In a break between painting on Saturday afternoon we swopped our ‘pictures in words’ of what we had learnt upto this point; Stevie’s is unprintable but heartfelt and very funny whereas mine I can share.

Before you go on to read my thoughts I feel the need to say that I am as imperfect as anyone else and each day I work to a greater or lesser degree with every point below. Life has been tesing to say the least in the last few months and every single one of my beliefs has come under scrutiny and there have been times when I have been heard to say out loud to fresh air ‘Oh come on now you are kidding me on….!’

I am learning to say No and not feel guilt.

Everyone is doing the best they can at any given moment.

Show love wherever you can.

Tell those you care about that you appreciate them.

Do what feels right to you no matter what others say.

When others are down do not make them feel worse, say something kind, uplifting or say nothing…never kick someone when they’re down.

You will never have the ideal circumstances to birth a dream, breathe life into it anyway.

Hold onto your dreams with hope and let go of the expectations. Just because your dream is realised in a different way to the scenario you imagined does not mean that you haven’t achieved your dream…it just looks different in real life…dreams give wings to your soul and expectations are the stones that weigh them down.

Let no-one or nothing disturb your inner peace.

Tell those you love that you love them…tell those you care for that you care about them.

Trust that all is as it should be right now.

Keep striving and moving forward even if no-one understands what you are doing.

Embrace change as change heralds the new and life is ever changing.

Hurt needs fresh air to heal properly, it’s natures law.

Expect the best from any given situation.

Laugh as often as you can…life is absurd and it’s foolish to try and make sense of it.
