Friendship, clouds and a spontaneous day to just ‘be’…

A close friend called yesterday morning saying ‘Do you fancy a cuppa?’ ‘Yes’ was my reply and I drove over to her town and we sat and chatted away as only close buddies can.

We forgot all plans we may have had and went out to a local garden centre for lunch. There was sunshine and we sat there and ate, chatted and watched the fish darting about in the sun drenched pond. Afterwards we pottered around and spent ages laughing at the cards in the gift section. Our favourite was a drawing of a chap in a very sorry state, with the words in bold type above his head ‘MAN FLU‘ and underneath….’he would rather you didn’t laugh at it!

We then pottered onto a local historic stately home that neither of us had ever been too before. It is being renovated right now and was so quiet that we pottered about for ages undisturbed.

The white wooden hutted cafe there, set behind the old walled garden, was open and again there was hardly a soul about. We sat in comfy squishy sofas and soaked it all up.

Afterwards, we followed a pathway and found ourselves at the front of the house and we sat on the veranda, on a wooden bench, for a good few hours. We spotted shapes in the floating clouds, listened to each other, sat in silence resting our minds and found loving peace.

We roused ourselves as evening started to fall and made our way back to the town. We found our way to an Italian bakery tucked away from all the mayhem of the town. The baker watched us as he cooked our pizzas, sitting in the setting evening sun at the table on the front of his bakery, and asked if we would like to stay and eat there. Amoungst the pots of geraniums and blooming roses, he placed our fresh pizzas on his own plates and gave us a kitchen roll for napkins and that is how we ended our day.

I love you BB. X

I love this, Jane. Some speak of the spirit world, and while that is intriguing in so many ways, there are other times when our physical presence is indeed our richest blessing. In those times, you can feel the warmth of the crust between your fingers, the morning breeze on bare feet. A spontaneous trip, a walkabout the world. These aren’t things a disembodied soul can do, but a human being can do it. We have hands and feet and eyes. That’s our privilege, and the joy of the mortal body. I’m positive it’s part of the reason God needs us. He loves to feel things through our hands. I don’t know about you, but I can feel Him (more) when I do………. Love you, Jane. ~ Bobbie
