Love is the bridge….

There was a huge rainbow in the sky over Liverpool yesterday evening and I tried to capture it with my mobile phone camera. My photos did not do justice to the colours and energy that were filling the sky, yet it was there and my heart felt it.

I sat watching in wonder as the base of the rainbow grew larger and shone out with light and dark and all the colours in-between. It sparkled in the sky. The spectrum of life in all its glory, each colour flowing along with the other.

We are pressured in this modern world of ours to look for the light colours in life (to remain positive), while not acknowledging the darker colours and the depths and wisdom contained therein. All colours have their place. In the constant striving for the ‘light’ we battle ourselves within, as in denial of the darker colours we close off to the whole.

Acknowledging all the colours of life; we can observe and bear witness to them, yet we do not have to sink into any one. No one colour holds the key, for they all blend and flow together to make the whole.

They all give light and energy as they flow and the energy is love. ❤

‘Brushes of Breeze’ … a joint poem by Martin Shone and Jane Thorne

Martin Shone and I have been creating again.

Brushes of Breeze

Nature blends its colours
through dawn till dusk
brushes of breeze paint the life

Fold upon fold upon
a naked palette
a speckled light
a dappled mist
sprinkling sunlit dust
along tracks of nature’s peace

Her story to be told
with greens of earthen love
fronds of a spider’s kiss
a feathered blush
a tickled stroke
a watercolour love
a tree leaf’s gentle touch

Whispered dreams of a bird’s wing
rainbow songs of a waterfall’s passion
mountain hopes of a snow’s pure light

Eagle soars above a forest’s dark depths
where tree folk roam invisible to all
weaving their magic of universal hue
creating a mosaic for me and you.

We are all part of nature…

We are all part of nature
at one with earth and sky

Colours like an oil painting
splashed on canvas
swirling
growing
at one with earth and sky

Our time
to flourish
to fly
expanding
at one with earth and sky

Our time
to learn
to stretch
towards knowing
at one with earth and sky.

Spirit, as in determination, hard work and at times sheer grit keep the view through the window authentic…

Another one of my paintings to illustrate today’s thoughts.

Em made a decision recently which caused a big change for both of us and before I go any further let me just say that I fully support her in her decision. Em has coped admirably with the change and made future plans and put them into action already, however, it has stirred up old fears for her and this emotional undertow is making life tricky. I am coming at this from a different stance (well I would being a good thirty odd years older) but I believe that the circumstances are facts and it is how we handle the emotions surrounding them and our thoughts and actions that shape what happens from this point.

We still have our future vision in the view from our window, we just need to change tack to keep it’s colours true to the original dreams.

There is a memory here from when Em’s Dad was taken seriously ill and in that initial week there were all sorts of things to get hold of and sort through. One of them was gently exiting from my post as housekeeper at the house where the beautiful statues resided. About two days before our lives had started on this roller coaster I had stripped all the cloths, covers and bedding from the house to launder at home and return all freshly pressed before the house was occupied for the weekend. I managed to get everything finished and as it happens Em was at home with me on the Friday so we set off together to put the house back to rights and say goodbye. We arrived to find that a pair of ravens had come down the chimney in the main bedroom and in their panic had left their calling cards on every conceivable surface in the bedroom, dressing room and en suite bathroom (all carpeted with deeply grooved sisal). I turned around to my small daughter when the ravens had been released through the bedroom window and said ‘Darling, we are the girls and this is where Mum teaches you the art of heavy duty cleaning at speed’….. we did it and put all the covers back, made the beds up and left the house spick and span. I know Em remembers this.

So my Darling girl, s#*t happens (sometimes literally) but the Mothership has our view firmly in sight and with the support we give each other we will get there. The spirit I have in me, you have in you, and we are surrounded by love and inspiration and above all else remember we are ‘the girls’. x

Colour, all of life is colour……..

Life is but a palette,
Daily we make choices of brush, colour and technique.
We surround ourselves with colour
Infusing our daily round with pattern and texture.

We hold colour in our hearts,
Send colour out with our thoughts,
Create colour with our actions
Paint our lives with our choices.

Autumn, a time of re-birth, imagination floating free and anything being possible….

A feel of Winter in the air,
Leaves spinning to the ground,
Rich vibrant colours in view,
And energy giving rise to beginnings.

Autumn a time for re-birth,
Imagination floating and running free,
A hint of all that could be,
A place in time for possibilities and the new.

Time to assess a year nearly passed,
Holding those dreams close,
Making plans and stepping forward,
Burnishing belief that all is as it should be.

A Note From Abroad
