Spirit, as in determination, hard work and at times sheer grit keep the view through the window authentic…

Another one of my paintings to illustrate today’s thoughts.

Em made a decision recently which caused a big change for both of us and before I go any further let me just say that I fully support her in her decision. Em has coped admirably with the change and made future plans and put them into action already, however, it has stirred up old fears for her and this emotional undertow is making life tricky. I am coming at this from a different stance (well I would being a good thirty odd years older) but I believe that the circumstances are facts and it is how we handle the emotions surrounding them and our thoughts and actions that shape what happens from this point.

We still have our future vision in the view from our window, we just need to change tack to keep it’s colours true to the original dreams.

There is a memory here from when Em’s Dad was taken seriously ill and in that initial week there were all sorts of things to get hold of and sort through. One of them was gently exiting from my post as housekeeper at the house where the beautiful statues resided. About two days before our lives had started on this roller coaster I had stripped all the cloths, covers and bedding from the house to launder at home and return all freshly pressed before the house was occupied for the weekend. I managed to get everything finished and as it happens Em was at home with me on the Friday so we set off together to put the house back to rights and say goodbye. We arrived to find that a pair of ravens had come down the chimney in the main bedroom and in their panic had left their calling cards on every conceivable surface in the bedroom, dressing room and en suite bathroom (all carpeted with deeply grooved sisal). I turned around to my small daughter when the ravens had been released through the bedroom window and said ‘Darling, we are the girls and this is where Mum teaches you the art of heavy duty cleaning at speed’….. we did it and put all the covers back, made the beds up and left the house spick and span. I know Em remembers this.

So my Darling girl, s#*t happens (sometimes literally) but the Mothership has our view firmly in sight and with the support we give each other we will get there. The spirit I have in me, you have in you, and we are surrounded by love and inspiration and above all else remember we are ‘the girls’. x
