Creating a new tapestry with faith, hope and love, always love, and discovering a natural rhythm…

My friend Gary was away on a business trip this week and he took a picture of the sunrise over Newcastle and he has kindly gifted it.

There is a meal being created for us all to share in our home today and we have realised that we are missing our fresh herbs. Our thoughtful landlord has organised builders to re-vamp the back yard over the next few weeks and to build a shed for storage and ‘hopeful’ bikes. By the Spring we will have a lovely space to share outside and we can all ‘see’ pots, herbs, plants, seats and colour.

We have a peace flowing through our home which is nurtured with kindness, thought and laughter, much laughter. Take four strangers, bring them all together in a beautiful house that has been lovingly restored and within a few short weeks what do you have? You have magic flow and a landlord who is going to stay with us for a while.

This week has been a collection of organising, sorting, making decisions, writing, knitting, laughter, watching films, catching up with friends, registering for local services and finding my natural rhythm.

Life flows gifts: a new mirror in the bathroom with a sparkly edge, watching the sea at storm level throwing spray high up into the air to the delight of watching toddler’s, playing air hockey in the arcade to shelter from a sharp hail storm, going back to my natural hair colour and having the length chopped off so my hair can swing, sharing coffee, tea, cake and nattering in the ‘Driftwood’ cafe, starting to learn the history of this special place, walking around the point and looking across to Liverpool and spotting the landmarks, exploring the rail network, watching the swans on the pond by the sea, seeing the ships come in and out on the Mersey, discovering the local films and talks that abound up here and breathing. Simply breathing in the peace of my home, relishing the space and choosing the strands to create my new tapestry with care to the backdrop of my natural rhythm.

Life flows gifts.

Simplicity…..

This time a week ago I moved into my new home. A whole week has just flashed past and with it comes a new realisation; life carries on, no matter what is happening in our tiny corner of the world, it carries on flowing forward and how we flow with it dictates how we feel.

The company I am currently working for has asked me to write my story about the letting go and flowing it has taken to reach this point, so I shall save that for another day. Suffice to say, it is proving hard to relax now I have my place of peace and it is almost as if I am holding my breath waiting for the next upheaval.

Last night I took an emotionally demanding call for work and when I put the phone down, I milled about for a minute after it wondering how to settle myself. There are a myriad of jobs that need doing since the move, but I refuse to pressurise myself into doing them in a rush. The last thing I need right now is a ‘to do’ list as long as my arm or any pressure whatsoever. Then my eyes alighted on the herb tray my lovely neighbours at the back had given me (with some terracotta pots) as a house warming present . Just the job to unwind I thought. I pottered about the garden collecting spare paving blocks of various shapes and sizes and built a little tower and potted up my gifted herbs. The sun was setting and the day was still warm and my peace was restored in minutes.

Life will always be life, and I will let go and flow as I have been taught, but my inner peace is very precious. Herbs and earth helped me to retain that.
