On the edge of moments…

I watched the tide come in yesterday and as the beach disappeared I was reminded of the flow of it all. Within twelve hours the beach will re-appear and the cycle will repeat.

Earlier, on this post, I wrote a story to illustrate a philosophy that I believe. I have sat knitting tonight and sharing what I did was not sitting well with me, as it wasn’t my tale to tell. So, let me put it another way. I struggle with seasonal goodwill and festivities and have done for many years now. If I could hibernate till it was all over, I would. A friend feeling the same way reached out for support and we agreed that there must be many others feeling as we do.

‘There is no such thing as a normal family or a normal Christmas. We are force fed these images of perfection and they are not real. Christmas has been hijacked by commercial enterprise and we don’t need to buy into it. Life is messy. We are messy. Goodness knows it’s a mess in our heads, so mess is bound to follow when we interact with each other. Yay to the mess! Joy comes in moments.’

‘I feel our purpose in life is to learn how to love. We try and fail and try again. Create and destroy and create again. Learn and forget and learn again. We just need to show up every day and stay open-hearted.’

Exploring dances…

The beauty of nature moved Em to go outside and explore on Sunday, as it often does.

Recently, I took a leaf out of my own book and re-arranged my ‘happy bubble’ home by the water; de-cluttering every shelf, drawer and cupboard as I went along. This also involved moving furniture as a new writing space was created in front of my bedroom window. A loving friend gifted me a notebook and on the front it says ‘She believed she could, so she did.’ I take it everywhere with me, as I jot down notes for a new writing project that’s coming to life.

This kind of exploring energy has been touching my clients.

There is a raw vulnerability when we enter into another’s private space and it touches everything. I am mindful that it’s not about how I would do things, the suggestions I may make, or how I see situations. Exploring together opens things up so that we can connect and find other ways of daily life flow. Some may fit, some may not, and signs of distress and upset from my clients call for a safe sharing with no labels, judgment or blame. It always touches on the way others see themselves with their inner scripts and beliefs and everyone is different, needing things that are unique to them. Exploring is being invented between us, moment by moment (sometimes with mis-steps in the dance), yet the overall energy is love.

Comfort and kindness……

tom

This is the lovely Tom, who graces the spirit world now, and I was blessed to spend some time with him a few years ago. He would sit beside my laptop as I worked, telling me stories about his day. It was important to keep an eye on him as he loved to sit on the keyboard and had deleted a lot of his Mum’s work that way! He loved my snuggle blanket and found such comfort there, as I did in having his company. ❤

I walked into Remember When this morning for our Thursday knitting group and I felt my shoulders drop and my breathing ease. The tearoom is decorated for Christmas, carols were softly playing and loving souls called out 'Welcome'. Usually we are quite a large group and there is much nattering and knitting too of course. Today was different, as there were only two of us for a while and we were joined by another buddy a bit later. As our friend came in we could see that she was agitated. A pot of tea and toast was placed in front of her as she settled down and started to talk. Within a short space of time her shoulders dropped and she started to breath a lot easier. Loving kindness created space for something magic to happen. In our safe space vulnerable stories were shared and the three of us drew close. Another friend joined us later after her dental appointment and she said 'What is happening here? How did this start?' I smiled at her and replied 'Listening. We have been really listening to each other'. Each of us had tears in our eyes. ❤
